Mind/Body@PFC - Weekend Workshops
Stress Reduction Workshops to Reframe Your Journey to Pregnancy
Workshops are taught by Pacific Fertility Center's experienced fertility caregivers Peggy Orlin, MFT and Allison Chamberlain, RN, trained by Alice Domar, PhD, Harvard Medical School pioneer in the development of infertility stress reduction tools and techniques.

Mind/Body@PFC workshops are open to Pacific Fertility Center patients and non-PFC patients alike. Couples or individuals who are attempting to conceive and experiencing emotional distress and/or overall life stress will gain the tools and practices needed to reduce stress levels and enliven your journey to conception.

Without question, infertility can bring on extreme stress and feelings of isolation. Studies have shown that some patients increase their chances to conceive by practicing relaxation techniques and stress reduction lifestyle changes. Women who join support groups also respond more favorably to infertility treatments.

Unless otherwise indicated, all workshops will be at PFC's Education Center at 55 Francisco St., Suite 500, San Francisco, CA 94133.

Registration and Workshop Dates:

Allison Chamberlaine, RN is a registered nurse with 15 years of experience in the field of infertility. Her depth of experience provides her valuable insight into caring for those experiencing infertility. She has been affiliated with Pacific Fertility Center since 1996.

A native of California, Ms. Chamberlaine received her nursing degree from Santa Monica College and her Lamaze and Lactation Certification from UCLA. She taught Lamaze and Lactation as well as Well Baby classes at Cedars Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles. She has been involved with Siddha Yoga meditation for 22 years, has participated in 4 retreats with The Dali Lama and has taught meditation and relaxation techniques for over 20 years.

Her personal history of infertility led her to the work she now enjoys. Ms. Chamberlaine currently coordinates care for individuals involved in third party family building at Pacific Fertility Center and has co-led stress reduction classes for PFC patients.

Ms. Chamberlaine’s professional associations include the American Society for Reproductive Medicine and RESOLVE. She has been a speaker at the Resolve Symposiums.

In addition to her infertility nursing, Ms. Chamberlaine enjoys the practice of Tai Chi and Hatha yoga, grandchildren and gardening.

In line with her long history of teaching meditation and relaxation techniques, and her belief that emotional support and self- nurturing activities are important for those experiencing infertility, she has received Mind/Body Teacher Training with Alice Domar, PhD. (Dr. Alice Domar, a pioneer in the development of mind/body programs for infertility.)

Peggy Orlin, MFT is a Marriage and Family Therapist who specializes in the emotional aspects of infertility, third party family building, and adoption. She has been a therapist for 20 years, a counselor to those experiencing infertility for 12 years and has been affiliated with Pacific Fertility Center for the past 6 years.

A native of Buffalo, New York, Ms. Orlin received a master’s degree from Hofstra University. She moved to the Bay Area in 1978 where she completed her postgraduate training at the Family Therapy Center in San Francisco and at the Marin Psychotherapy Center.

Her personal history of infertility led her to sub specialize in infertility counseling. At Pacific Fertility Center, she has co-led stress reduction classes for patients and co-ordinates discussions for staff on ethical issues in reproductive medicine. Her involvement with third party family building includes psychological screening of all involved - donors, recipients and gestational surrogates.

Ms. Orlin’s professional associations include the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, where she is a member of the Executive Committee of the Mental Health Professional Group, and RESOLVE, the national infertility organization. She regularly speaks at conferences on infertility and gave the keynote address at RESOLVE’S 1995 conference.

She maintains an interest in disclosure and attachment issues that affect individuals and their children involved with ART and adopted children. She is currently writing a book for parents on issues surrounding Third Party Reproduction.

In addition to her infertility counseling, Ms. Orlin enjoys working with couples, adults dealing with grief and loss, and those coping with anxiety and relationship problems.

In line with her long history of including stress reduction as an adjunct to her fertility counseling, Ms. Orlin has received Mind/Body Teacher Training with Alice Domar, PhD. (Dr. Alice Domar, a pioneer in the development of mind/body programs for infertility.)
